gabriel eduardo saporta was born october 11, 1979 in montevideo, uruguay before immigrating to new york and eventually moving to new jersey. in high school, he was the bassist for a band called "humble beginnings" (very fitting name LOL) before getting kicked bc ppl liked him more than the singer. he went to rutgers university for philosophy (he's smart as shit and super emoooo existential btw, for those who only know him through cobras). while he was there, he started the band midtown as the bassist and singer. well, one of the singers. that band gained fame in the jersey scene and released 3 full albums (plus like 2 eps iirc). eventually, they had a bunch of label issues when drive thru records got absorbed into geffen or whatever happened and they dissolved in 2005. then gabe did a bunch of drugs and started cobra starship. you can learn more abt that band by clicking that link. unless you came here from that page. in which case keep reading. or you can just keep reading anyway... this is getting too meta. what was i saying? oh right. anyways, cobras broke up in 2015. then in like 2015/2016 (depends on if you think it started with announcement or actual launch), he partnered with mike carden of the academy is to start a record label called "the artist group" aka tag music. their roster includes artists like tessa violet and days or may if you care. nowadays, he's still running tag and did a couple of reunions shows with midtown.
now you might read all that and be like "ghoulie how did you write all of that in class and without having to google anything???!?!?" which is a fair question. and the answer, dear reader, is that i am terribly obsessed with this guy and have been for over 2 years. now that might not seem like long, but i honestly havent taken a real break from thinking abt him that whole time. he is one of the most fascinating members of "bandom" in my opinion. his real passion for music and the intergrity of musicians is something i envy and love. he's super emooooooooo smart and thinks abt like.. the meaning of life and other philosophical shit but is able to embrace it (not reject it) through saying fuck it all and having fun. he is not just the stupid slut ppl make him out to be. cobra starship was a persona, dumb fucks. "i only show you what i want you to see" or whatever. just everything abt him is super super fascinating to my brain. also he's so hot. but that's just a bonus LOL
